Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars excellent study guide   January 10, 2005

5 out of 5 found this review helpful

This video is an excellent study guide for organic chemistry. It reviews concepts learned earlier in the course (electrophilic additions) and applies them to more advanced reactions.

Reactions and concepts reviewed in this video are
Addition of HX to an alkene
Hydration
Halogen Addition
Halohydrin Formation
Oxymercuration
Hydroboration/Oxidation
Hydrogenation
Hydroxylation
Ozonolysis
Oxidative Cleavage

and alkyne reactions
Halogen addition
Haloacid to an alkyne
Mercuric Ion-Catalyzed Hydration
Hydroboration/Oxidation
Reductions (Pd catalyis, Ni2B catalyst, dissolving metals)
Oxidative Cleavage

Students narrate the video, not some wacky professor. They give plenty of tips to help you remember which reaction is which.
