Jim Henson's last directorial production aimed squarely at children is this delightful 50-minute show about a bunny who cried "dog." Little Bean Bunny always wants to make an impression on his family and his jovial bunny community. When he encounters a daffy dog bent on chasing rabbits (voiced by Henson), his stories only bemuse everyone; they'd rather prepare for the upcoming spring festival. Escaping into a rich fantasy life, Bean soon overcomes his fears and then finds practical ways to be a hero for a day. Jam-packed with music, The Tale of Bunny Picnic illustrates the enormity of Henson's vision in presenting multiple Muppet-like characters on screen at one time; there's a real sense of community. A cousin to his Fraggle Rock programs, this show will appeal to all folks age 3 and up. --Doug Thomas

5 out of 5 stars The Best Movie For Kids   May 21, 2008
Jason J. De Lassus (St. Louis, MO.)
One of my favorite's movies I remember will always be a favorite to me and now to my son as well. The service this person has is truly TOP notch. Speedy all the away to my door, not a problem with tape, it plays perfectly, but DVD would still be a nice touch.
Thank You mam for an excellent movie at a great price.

5 out of 5 stars They HAVE to make a DVD   November 30, 2007

NOBODY does it like Jim Henson. I remember being totally absorbed by all of his muppet tv shows and movies since before I understood what they were saying.

This was such a cool movie for me when I was younger. We would watch it every Easter (b/c of the bunnies) and about 20 times inbetween. The bad guy, as usual, becomes a good guy. There's all clean humor and so much personality and expression in each puppet you can hardly believe it. The good guys use creativity to help eachother out and in the end everyone is happy and dancing and singing just the way Jim Henson always did it. I love this movie and I even got one for my mother for nostalgia.

They have GOT to make a DVD of this one, I just can't find it. If you do let me know!!!

I am currently 17 years old and I remember when I was just a toddler Tale of the Bunny Picnic was part of my everyday activities! I watched it everyday! Now, at 17, I suddenly remembered it and wished that I could see it again so I set out to find it and I did, on amazon. You have got to check this out. Every little girl and boy needs a copy!

This wonderful Henson movie came out when my children were young; they are both grown and married. My oldest now has a newborn son and I would LOVE to be able to find this on DVD and/or VHS for him. Be-Bop-A-Loo-Wop-Bop was their favorite character... and the DAWWWG was just like our family dog, so he is forever our friend! If you have not seen this, you are missing the magic in your heart! It is simply the best.
