Amazon.com Review Fox Interactive successfully transforms the popular science-fiction television series The X-Files into an exciting, but not entirely flawless, multimedia adventure game. Spanning a massive seven CDs, The X-Files Game places you in the role of FBI agent Craig Willmore, assigned to investigate the disappearance of special agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson). Over the course of the investigation, you'll interact with other X-Files characters, such as Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) and "X" (Steven Williams); use a wide range of FBI gadgetry; and unravel many challenging puzzles. Graphically, The X-Files Game is fantastic. All events are presented in crisp, colorful, television-like full-motion video that looks incredible on any Microsoft Windows 95/98 compatible video card. Sound and music are also topnotch; the show's familiar theme song resonates throughout the adventure. Both adventure-genre novices and experts should feel at ease with the intuitive mouse-driven interface and the puzzles, which never exceed medium difficulty. The X-Files Game's biggest downer is the lack of the television show's principle characters, Mulder and Scully, who, after the cryptic introduction, don't make an appearance until the very end stages of the story. Still, if you're an X-Files fan who can't get enough alien conspiracy theories, you'll likely enjoy this interactive episode. --Doug Radcliffe

Best game ever March 24, 2004 Jenny (United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I love this game. It is almost impossable to find games that DON'T have CGI in them. I don't want to play pixelated characters from a computer screen. I want to see live action actors that you can manipulate and have talk to people. This game really is a great deal of fun.
Do do DO do DOO dooooooo January 29, 2004 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Okay, you're NOT Fox or Scully, BUT they make their little appearances throughout the game as does Skinner. This was one of the first adventure games I ever played so at the time it seemed pretty difficult. In retrospect, it might seem a bit easier but still the same engrossing game. Lots and lots of investigating, searching for hotspots and all that.Good things: 1. lengthy with strong story the whole way 2. good brain challenge 3. excellent visually and fab soundtrack 4. it ran great on win98 5. you get second chances, and thirds, fourths, fifths...... Not so good things: 1. not enought fox and dana 2. there's a shootem' up part and I'm not a fan 3. no follow-up game? what gives chris carter? Overall, worth the effort as long as you have patience and LOVE to explore.
A good mystery game for X-Philes March 5, 2003 David Noelle (New Paltz, NY United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was not the best mystery/adventure game I've ever played, and I'm not even a big fan of such games to begin with, but I am a serious X-Phile. Despite the seven CDs full of Full Motion Video than make up the game, it wasn't a whole lot like being in an X-Files episode. Instead, it was more like being one of those "other agents" who make brief appearances two or three times per season. You actually have to do some of the tedious legwork to collect evidence instead of having it conveniently handed to you after the commercial break. Of course, the up side to that is a more immersive, believable feel to the game and a feeling of accomplishment when you finally do spot the crucial clue.Fans of the series will find plenty of references to themes, conspiracies, events, and trivia from various episodes, as well as the familiar faces. While it's not strictly necessary to recognize all the references to the series in order to solve the mystery, it does add quite a bit to the game. If you're not a fan of The X-Files, there are better mystery/adventure games out there. If you find mystery/adventure games frustrating, you probably won't like this one even if you are a fan. On the other hand, if you do enjoy both this type of game and the series it's based on, you'll have a lot of fun with this game.
A game that every X-Philo must have... December 21, 2002 Juan P.Paredes (Santiago, Chile) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After a few seasons and a movie, Fox and 1013 Productions have decided to create a game, which keep everyone who played it, inside the paranormal-freaky-and-lovable trama of The X-Files. Filled with high-one-of-a-kind FMV, oustanding soundtrack and a more than credible history, the search for the truth wasent so fun until now.
Love the game May 28, 2002 I really enjoyed this game. I could have used more Mulder and Scully in it. Also Skinner could have played a bigger part. The ending was a bit of a letdown but I really had fun getting there. I love this game.
