Good Little Laptop Desk November 16, 2008 grockit I bought this to use with a couch, and it is just a bit too tall for that purpose, even pushed all the way down. It fits a 17" laptop if you don't use a mouse. It's sturdy enough and I like that it's constructed to slide under a chair. If only my couch were elevated! It's light and easy to move around if you just want to get it out of the way.
I wouldn't say it's terribly well made. I had trouble tightening the wheels with the cheapy wrench provided. Even using a real wrench, I had trouble-and not for lack of strength but something was off on the alignment, I think. A minor nitpick, and it did work out in the end.
I think the price is good, but when you add the shipping it no longer seems like such a bargain. Plus, it is not a nice piece of furniture and that fake wood is fooling no one. But still, three stars for function and size.
Not bad... October 21, 2008 Brad Meyer (sharpsburg, ga) Overall, it gets the job done. It does seem a liitle bit flimsy and not extremely stable. As far as simply holding the computer, it does a fine job at that. However, when I rest my arms on the cart to work on it, it seems like it's going to give way on me.
It hasn't done that...yet.
Close to perfect laptop dest September 24, 2008 G. W. Smith (Indianapolis, Indiana United States) The only two draw backs that I have on mine was that the stand was not perfectly strait vertically which made the stand tilt a bit to the left. I was able to fix it by using a vice. The only other thing I not fond of, is that I like using a mouse therefore, I use the table parallel to the floor so the mouse does not fall off. The ledge used to keep your laptop from falling when tilted should be more towards the left so that when using a mouse, the ledge do not interfere with mouse movement. For the price, value, ease, etc., does the job well.
Horrible quality. You get what you pay for. September 12, 2008 Color Bond 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I should have known better than to buy this. The adage "You get what you pay for" comes to mind here. Aside from the rust dust and misaligned bolt sockets, two issues stand out above all others. First of all, the desktop itself is hideous. Although the description mentions that the desktop is a maple laminate, the picture doesn't do it justice. It would be more accurate to call it a maple-like laminate - sort of. It's uneven, bubbly, and they couldn't even be bothered to make the end of the edge trim flush with itself, it's simply stuck to itself overlapped - like how you would wrap tape around a box. The underlying particle board is also plainly visible on all edges, because the laminate doesn't quite meet between top and sides.
And secondly, the desktop isn't even level. As in, it's not parallel to the floor - and I don't mean on the axis it's supposed to tilt on. Neither do I mean in a way that would be undetectable without a bubble level - I mean in a way that if you put anything sufficiently smooth on it, it will slide to the left until it falls off.
If you're looking at this item, you probably thought that at thirty bucks it's a great deal. Let me assure you, it's not. You're not getting a bargain by paying less for an item that's so poorly manufactured, it doesn't do what it's supposed to, and is so ugly, you feel compelled to hide it if you have company coming over.
After seeing the poor quality of this unit, my feeling is that anyone who says that the one they got is fine is likely to be the exception, rather than the rule.
Good Quality March 11, 2008 J. Wang (CA USA) Its quality is much better than some similar products with higher price. I would give it five stars if it can be lower a few more inches, which may make my typing work easier when sitting in a sofa. I plan to do this by myself.
