Product Description
The Firefly PC Remote bridges the gap between the study and the living room. Play movies, TV shows, MP3s, photos and other media stored on your computer from the comfort of your couch. And Firefly works through walls, so you won't have to move the PC or yourself.Firefly comes with Beyond Media Basic, a full-screen interface, so you can navigate your PC from across the room. Firefly is compatible with over 80 media applications, including Microsoft XP Media Center edition.

4 out of 5 stars firefly pc remote   April 12, 2008

Just what I was looking for - to play and skim through music without
leaving the comfort of my chair. It works better if you turn off
the sound effects so you can thumb through music while listening to
a song. Has large lettering, making it easier to see on my big
screen tv. I have media center on my other computers, but I like this
better.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT remote   December 10, 2007

Bought this remote to replace one that came with ATI TV card. Works great, easy to use with just about any application. Software has been solid for me, and never had any problems. Never any driver issues like the ATI one had.

A definite worthwhile buy.
Not only does it have all the buttons you might need, but it also is RF (wireless, doesn't use 'line-of-sight' infrared). As far as the range goes, I've only tested it from the end of my room(~10ft), but I'm sure it can go farther and will suffice for any media center pc application.
I didn't use the main application that came with it. (way too restrictive) Instead I installed the drivers and used a program that came on the side called Girder. Incredibly powerful, it allows scripts to be assigned to any key to control literally any part of any application. I set the 'x' button to turn off my computer if held down for more than 5 seconds, the 'music' button opens winamp, 'video' opens VLC, all the play buttons and stuff automatically switch to work with whatever application I'm currently using. I would definitely recommend using this alongside.

I have only owned the product for a month, and I have seen no problems. Recommended for anyone who wants a little control over their computer from a good distance.

1 out of 5 stars DEAD!!!!   September 19, 2007

Like several others, I bought this, and it worked great for several months. Then one day my computer said it found new hardware... but that it couldn't identify it. As it turns out, the receiver had died. I borrowed a receiver from a friend, and it worked great. His still is working at the time I write this, but mine is quite dead with no help from Snapstream.

I bought a new SnapStream Firefly PC Remote recently. I could not get it to update the software and work with foobar2000. There was an initial acknowledgement of my support request but no reply despite a further request. So the remote is basically useless for me and a waste of money. Beware
