5 out of 5 stars Works as advertised   January 25, 2008
Rob
I have one phone line with two phone numbers, one of which has a distinctive ring. I wanted to be able to have two answering machines and one fax. One answering machine and fax would be used with the distinctive ring. One answering machine would be used for the normal ring.

I configured the device to enable smart ring detection. I connected my fax machine to the fax port on the device. I connected one phone answering machine to the outgoing port on my fax machine. The fax machine answers on the fourth ring. The answering machine answers on the second ring, when it's on. So now the phone number with the smart ring is capable of handling fax calls and answering machine services.

I plugged the other answering machine into the answering machine port on the device. I plugged my home's wireless phone system into the phone line on the device. That line has it's own answering machine now. And everything is working properly.
