Really good case, but it could be a little better. February 23, 2008 Ronin T. (Marrero, LA United States) I too own a Motorola V551j and I just happened to come across this case a little over 2 years ago right after purchasing my V551j. I will say this - this case can take a beating and not show too much wear. It was even accidentally dropped off a 3rd story balcony and the only scuff was on the antenna of the phone itself.
It's a great case, but it has a few downsides...
1 - When you want to take a photo, the case gets in the way of the lens quite often. It's not a huge concern, but it does get in the way if you want to take a quick photo and don't remember to hold the leather piece down while taking the shot.
2 - The hole for the earpiece doesn't line up exactly on the case. I have to actually try to manuever the case around to be able to plug my ear piece in.
3 - The clear plastic that covers the outer LCD and the inside LCD gets cloudy pretty quickly. I find that the clear plastic shows even minor scratches and began to cloud up after only 2 months of ownership.
4 - The case doesn't fit the V551j EXACTLY like it should. The one I bought said it was for the v551, but obviously, it's for the 400 models regardless of what the package stated... I find that the front piece (it's two seperate pieces) doesn't fit too well and I even had to cut a little of the clear plastic on the left side of the phone where the volume and quick link buttons are to be able to access the quick link button properly.
I've also noticed that the case is finally beginning to wear and tear and I'm in the market for a new case soon. I'd like to get another Body Glove, but I can't seem to find one that will fit a V551j EXACTLY as it should.
All in all though, it's a great case despite the minor problems that could be rectified in a newer version. :-)
A PERFECT FIT! February 18, 2005 B. Colonna (Somewhere in NJ) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I purchased the Body Glove Scuba II Cellsuit for my Motorola V551. The product is advertised for the V400, but fits several other Motorola models. The shape and cutouts for this product align perfectly with the V551.
It is literally a perfect fit. This is my first Body Glove case. I have owned numerous cases, some inexpensive and some pricey. There is usually some alignment issue, where a case is a bit too snug or covers a portion of the phone it should not (a button, etc.). This is not the case here! This case is designed to perfection. It aligns completely with the buttons, speaker, ear cutouts, and mouthpeice on the phone!
It fits nicely - "like a glove" but not so snug that it can't be removed for an occasional cleaning of the phone.
The only con is if you use the camera on the phone a lot, the camera has three modes (normal, and two zoom settings. When you are not zooming, you may see a piece of the phone cover in the photo unless you put your finger over it to keep it out of the way. This is a very minor concern and again, simply putting a finger on the case will keep it from obstructing the camera lens.
A great case at a great value.
