Brother PT-80 P-touch Electronic Labeling System November 12, 2008 L. Lindgren (Reno NV USA) This label maker is easy to use. I haven't looked for replacement tape yet so I am not sure how easy it is to find.
Impressed and happy November 2, 2008 Jane Austin (Durham, MA) I bought this label maker after a friend told me it was one of the best purchases she had made because it helped her organize her entire life! According to many books, a label maker is also one of the best first steps in de-cluttering your house. So I figured for the price I would try it. After about 4 weeks, I am impressed. The labels have adhered well to plastic bins, paper, and wood. The ink has not worn off them and is dry immediately after printing. The label backs are also easy to peel off. I just ran out of tape tonight from the first roll. I would say I got a fair amount of labels out of that roll as I used it off and on. The interface is very intuitive and easy to use. The screen is large enough to read well. The buttons are large enough too so you do not have input errors. I like that the labels are not overly tacky so that I can reposition them on plastic easily if I put it on crooked. The only time I had a problem was when I tried to put a label on a wire file divider. The surface was irregular and they are less secure. Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and would buy it again.
never recieved October 30, 2008 Deborah Emmett (BOSTON) never recieved item, dont know if they shipped or not, could be the shippers fault!
Surprisingly difficult to use and expensive October 13, 2008 Ken S (Seattle) Most significantly, it doesn't save much time when it takes 15-20 seconds just to peel the backing off every single label! I thought date-stamping some food would be a good idea, but I just grab a pen now.
I couldn't get it to print, at first, and read the manual completely trying to figure out the problem. It turns out the back of the printer has to in place before it will print. Clever, but it would have been nice to include that in the trouble-shooting section!
I had to read the manual to figure out how to get it to feed labels--it just shouldn't be that difficult to use.
I've used it to print maybe a dozen labels in 3 weeks and the batteries are already shot! That just seems ridiculous to me.
In reality, it seems this printer will be a lot more expensive to use than I ever expected.
Quick and easy October 12, 2008 Ed (San Francisco, CA) It's not the world's best labelmaker, but at it's price point I'm satisfied with it. I bought this for my small business so that I could label cables, computer parts, power adaptors, spindles of cds, etc. Works fine.
