 Good sharpener, but mine was defective. October 16, 2008

I think the blades in the sharpener I got are misaligned or out of sync somehow, because every pencil, regardless of brand or shape (round vs. hexagonal) gets a lopsided sharpening.
I'm sure this is probably something that could be fixed, and if I had wanted to, I could have gotten it replaced, but I'm lazy.
So far I sharpen for a little bit, pull the pencil out, turn it a little, let it sharpen some more, etc., and get an evenly sharpened pencil that way. It does sharpen to a nice point, and none of the other reviewers mention a defect like this, so I probably just got a bad sharpener.

Sleek and practical. Not too large. Sharpens very well. Only minor drawbacks are the cord (if you prefer batteries) and the small shrapnel dispenser. Other than that, I'm glad I picked this sharpener!

Before purchasing the X-Acto Electric Pencil Sharpener, I paid half the price for an electric sharpener from Wal-Mart that lasted over five years. This product has lasted a mere five months. Rarely used, it often sticks, overheats after only a few uses, and then ceases to work at all.
I had hoped a sharpener of better quality would last longer, especially considering it isn't even used very often. It would seem I was mistaken.

This products is very handy. I dont use it very often, because i tend to sharp my pencils once a month or so. For that use, the product is perfect. The case is all black and totally discrete (perfect for that clean design you are loking for your desk).
