If you don't know then you better ask somebody, because one of the greatest MC's to ever perform is back, and if you are a faN of Lil Wayne then you should go and shoot yourslf now. If you love real Hip Hop then buy this CD and you will not be sorry, because it is that good.

for fans of nas, you quickly realize that this is his most conscious album. illmatic was his most lyrically complex and introspective; however, nas is introspective but lacking in the lyrical wizardry of illmatic. the production is not really all that great, but there are some fire tracks on the album. definitely a must for hardcore nas fans. for everyone else, i feel badly about saying it, but you can leave it on the shelf...

Nas is as real as Ice Water and you better bring a life preserver if you think you can tread water behind him ask Jay-Z after Ether. He soon reconciled and recruited this mad lyricist to his camp. I could say many positive things about this brother and the most important I feel is that he has stayed grounded and been about the Revolution. He is even much more prolific and resolute as he matures just like fine wine. And he is taking the news media to task as he should because that is the real purpose for rap music that has grown into Hip-Hop. Nas is ole school, he is a Rapper, he is not looking for you to drop and pop it to his offerings he wants you to pay attention to his words of wisdom and carry the torch of righteousness/fairness and equality.
I was so pleased when I saw in the Baltimore Examiner' a published story about his song Sly Fox, recanting their negative coverage of news regarding the Black community. It shows that they are paying attention and that is the true purpose of this art form. They stated that the protest outside of the New York station was unlikely to affect their feature articles in the future but I beg to differ. Regardless, the news media responded when they were called on the carpet and that is the beginning to making young Rappers understand the strength and purpose of their music and lyrics, as well as to call them to task to be conscious of their lyrical content because it makes a difference. NAS IS A LEADER FOR THE RAP/HIP-HOP COMMUNITY. Much Love to the King Nas and his Queen Kelis.
Controversial, somber, honest and not for everyone August 24, 2008

Verily, I say, this is the most controversial album of 2008. Nas is always honest about his views and feelings and it is usually not pretty. He's blatant with his words and, there is no doubt, some people will be offended by his statements, but that is apparently his intention. Just recall weeks before the release of the album and how much chaos it stirred up. The quality of this album as a unit is decent, however, as usual, his lyrics are the most grand aspect. The hooks and beats, for the most part, are sub-par, but Nas has the ability to take you away with his clever wordplay.
"Lost Tapes" and "Hip Hop is Dead" are still my favorite works by this artist, but this album holds its own and I will be taking a lot more listens. Chris Brown and The Game assist Nas on the track called "Make the World Go Round." Nas and Game are both lyrical masterminds and together they give nothing less than audible bliss. Chris Brown does a fair job, but he should have had more lines than just the repetitive hook. Busta Rhymes lends his talent on "Fried Chicken." This is one of the most creative tracks found on this album. There are several metaphors so be sure that you listen with your undivided attention. In essence, this song is about the positive and negative qualities of the food. Throughout this album, Nas touches on subjects that are considered taboo to many such as racism, slavery and white supremacy. "Untitled" is one of those songs. Though the hook is repetitive, he pours his soul into this track and leaves his listener with their mouth wide open. The haunting beat aids Nas in conveying his points.
I have said this but I will say it again: This compact disc is not for everyone. It's more suitable for fans of Nas and those who aren't easily influenced by other people's opinions. If some people listen to this album, their whole outlook on life may change forever. Nice work, well-crafted and very different.

First off, let me say that Nas is one of my favorite rappers. No other rapper can touch Nas right now. Period. Nas spoke the truth on this album and I know a lot of people are mad at him about it. But they already bought the album so Nas already made his money whether they liked it or not. This album is nothing but the truth and it needed to be said. The song "America" is the best hip hop song out right now. This whole album is the best hip hop album out right now and Nas should get album of the year. He has always been talented. I knew that from the moment I heard his classic debut, Illmatic. He has always been a cut above the rest. I love the fact that Nas is not a corporate clown rapper trying to be an Uncle Tom and please the industry. There's so many of them out right now. He's not afraid to speak his mind and tell it like it really is. All my fellow Nas fans know what I mean when I say Nas "tells it like it really is". Those who don't like Nas might get offended by my review but quite frankly I don't care. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN DON'T BUY IT. NAS DIDN'T PUT A GUN TO YOUR HEAD AND MAKE YOU PURCHASE HIS ALBUM. I love this album and I will continue to support Nas. I love to see that there are people out there who are supporting real hip hop. Especially the young people. I am so proud of you all!!
