5 out of 5 stars Yummy! Just What My Sweet Tooth Needed!   July 1, 2008
Magic Poison (California)
Hard Candy has finally arrived. I have been waiting impatiently for this release. I have to admit that this is one of Madonna's best albums. For those of you who are worried that this album is too Timbaland/Pharrell/Timberlake, FEAR NOT! . . . This album is very much Madonna. The songs are amazing and the overall feel of the album is amazing. 4 Minutes does not represent the album properly. There are many other tracks that are much better than the first single. Gems like Give It 2 Me & Incredible give a better insight into what Hard Candy sounds like. Don't be quick to judge and take a listen. You're in for a sweet surprise!!

Here's a track by track review:

Candy Shop: This is pretty much the same version as the one that leaked months ago. Im guessing Madonna
liked how it sounded so she didn't bother to change it. Still it is fun to listen to.
"My Sugar is RAW"

4 Minutes: You all know this one.

Give It 2 Me: Definitely one of the best tracks. It has a modern pop sound with some 80s influence. Very fun & energetic.
"Get Stupid, Don't Stop It"

Heartbeat: Love the electro-sound of this track. More of a mid-tempo song but still good enough to dance to.
"See My Booty Get Down"

Miles Away: Very Sweet. Obviously for her hubby Guy. This song features some acoustic guitars as well as some dance flavor towards the end.
"You always have the biggest heart when we're 6,000 miles apart"

She's Not Me: This song reminds me of Sorry. M letting the guy know that no one compares to her. Good sound and great lyrics.
"She doesn't have what's ours"

Incredible: Hands down the best song on the album. Love how the momentum builds up as the song progresses. Just an amazing dance song.
"Sex with you is . . . Incredible"

Beat Goes On: Looks like Madonna took her advice from the demo and tried something new. Although I liked the demo it felt like it was missing something. This version feels complete and Kanye's rap fits perfectly. Has a nice pop/urban sound to it.
"Don't sit there like some silly girl"

Dance 2night: This song is okay. I was expecting this song to be upbeat like 4 minutes. The lyrics are good though.
"You don't have to be beautiful to be understood"

Spanish Lesson: Very fun and upbeat. It's great to hear M singing some Spanish again. Although the translations aren't 100% correct it is still great to hear some "lessons." This song really makes me want to get up and dance.
"Yo te quiero means I Love You"

Devil: Im glad that this song was finally conceived. Love the dark feel to it. Many compare it to Cry Me A River but I think that it is way better than River. Another great gem.
"I play right into it, who am I to criticize?"

Voices:Another dark track. Very haunting. Good lyrics and emotional ending. Very similar to the ending on Push.
"Who is the master & who is the slave?"

Ring My Bell:The pre-order track. This song is decent. Too bad it didn't make the final cut.

Remixes: The remixes are decent. I really like Junkie XL and the Oakenfold mix of Give it 2 me is amazing.

So here's the review.
Hope that you will enjoy the album like I am right now. Don't be quick to judge and
listen to the album. Forget the whole Timbaland & Co. and their attachment to the
album. Madonna definitely takes the wheel and the producers take the back seat. I
recommend this album to all fans, newbies, and anyone looking for a great workout
album. Remember to "Work up a sweat cause that's what music's for."

4 out of 5 stars More of the "Madonna" I Like To Hear   May 3, 2008

First, let me say I'm biased. I have been listening to Madonna and following her career since her debut album which I still think is her BEST. I don't like everything she does, (movies, etc), but its always
FUN to see her taking new challenges on and I think she looks GREAT!
The latest CD offering "Hard Candy" is a FINE effort that will not disappoint. I was a little skeptical of her utilizing the talents of Justin Timberlake, Timbaland,et al, but this is very PLEASING.
It's refreshing to hear Madonna continuing to take risks to broaden her appeal. At times she misses here, but not enough to spoil a GREAT effort and a welcome new disc! Atreides

On Queen Madonna's studio-album, her final studio CD from Warner Music (note to self: there will be a greatest hits CD out at the end of the year!), Madonna includes her worldwide hit, 4 Minutes! 4 MINUTES is Madonna's singing-anthem with her new BFF, Justin Timberlake; they both sing about how they'd like to save us all. And if that's not enough, last moth, Madonna made headlines around the world when she proclaimed that she wanted to "save Britney!" It's not easy, but if anyone can do it I'm sure it's Madonna. "4 Minutes" is a quick track that is very easy to listen to (it's no wonder Z-100 plays her lead-single every hour and every day!) The single has already reached number one in more than a dozen countries around the world, it's just a matter of time for it to top the Billboard Charts in the US. Everyone, please stand by while Madonna takes off, straight to the top of the pops. My favorite of the bonus tracks is the Give It 2 Me [Paul Oakenfold Edit]. This is a previously unreleased track that was not included on the CD. It's a great fast moving song that's mixed up perfectly. ...You will experience a merriment of emotions which run the gamut of abhorrence to delectation as you listen to this record, "Hard Candy." This is the reason why Madonna is not just an artist, but the Defining Pioneer. With her freshest work of art, this modern-day iconoclast is both asking the question, giving the answer and simultaneously luring the listener into her den of pleasure, all at once...!
