3 out of 5 stars Overrated   August 25, 2008

This album is okay, but it's highly overrated. The best and only really great Spoon album, as far as I can tell, is Girls Can Tell. Please make an album like that again.

3 out of 5 stars Completely Boring   August 15, 2008

If you're just now starting to get in to Spoon, then by all means check out this album. It might sound new, strange, and yet brilliant all at the same time to you few folks who haven't indulged in the brilliance that is Kill the Moonlight, or Gimme Fiction. But Spoon's newest album, Ga Ga Ga Ga is one of the most boring albums I've ever listened to. It seems like Spoon got tired of coming up with melodies so they stuck with the idea of a few throughout. Perhaps Kathleen C. Fennessy finds this bold move as Beatlesesque, but few Beatles fans would agree. The critics failed to notice Kill the Moonlight and Gimme Fiction, so they decided to give Spoon the win with Ga Ga Ga Ga. Or at least that's my opinion, have a listen and decide for yourself.

5 out of 5 stars Exploding Indie "Cherry" Pop at its best!   August 10, 2008
FizzWiz (Pittsburgh, PA)
The mix of sax, trumpet, the way they make these instruments stand out here and there, sometimes with the more typical piano and guitar, but the guitar tends not to be emphasized so much. It's different, but Spoon makes this album work!

The Ghost of You Lingers is heavy on the pianos with a pretty repeating, fast melody, but very fluid and fun to listen to. Just makes you want to keep moving on your feet. And who can say no to a cherry bomb? The chimes and sax really get your attention on that number. The Underdog can be like you or I being the underdog liking this album in such a way that since others do not "have a fear of the underdog, they will not survive." Just a silly "diddy" about not having others not enough patience for success. They are one of my new favorite bands!

3 out of 5 stars that's fine and dandy   August 4, 2008

put this group in the weezer category- but that's not a terribly bad thing. you can tell though that they want to sell records in their output. for stuff that sounds good/interesting and doesn't sound quite as forced, investigate; silver apples, tuxedo moon, the german shepherds, minimal man, rick kaley and the menacing mutants, friction, cat party, lost sounds, t.s.o.l, suburban lawns, new collapse, stockhausen, etc.

A great Cd from a great band. I cant believe that this is the first time I have purchased one of their C.d.'s. Judging from this one, I will get everything they have produced.
