4 out of 5 stars nice CD for fans of this genre   December 1, 2008

Ok, so Sarah Brightman isn't generally my cup of tea, but I actually enjoyed this CD. I bought it for my bf and we listened to it three times in the car before I got annoyed! :) It really is a good CD--go ahead, buy it...

Thumbs up to Sarah and Mr. Stanley. I am proud to be a KISS fan!!

5 out of 5 stars It's a good album   November 25, 2008

I own and love all of Sarah's albums. I didn't immediately fall in love with this one, but it did grow on me. I know I'm in the minority but I don't like Fleurs Du Mai (I always skip it). My favorite songs are Symphony, Canto Della Terra - featuring Andrea Bocelli, Let It Rain and Pasion - featuring Fernando Lima (his voice is so beautiful!).

5 out of 5 stars I have this Album   November 22, 2008
Donna R. Erlandson (Clearwater, Fl USA)
I became aware of Sarah Brightman by watching a PBS program with her performing SYMPHONY in a cathedral. I was amazed at her pure voice and the range of her voice. I literally "fell in love" with her music and her style of singing. This album is a MUST if you like Sarah Brightman.

5 out of 5 stars Another well done album from Sarah Brightman.   November 15, 2008

Sarah Brightman's 'Symphony' is yet another example of how the acclaimed 'Angel of Music' takes classical music genres and brings life to them.

True to its title, 'Symphony' takes on a more gothic symphonic rock style from Ms. Brightman's previous albums, while sticking to her traditional crossover formula. The best example of this is in 'Fleurs du Mal' (Flowers of Evil), which opens with a strong beat and some amazing high notes. A reprise of this song appears at the end of the album as a hidden track. 'Fleurs du Mal' is probably the best song on the album because it literally grabs listeners' attention from the first second.

Some of the songs have a more melancholic mood, like 'I Will Be with You' (with Paul Stanley), which was the theme for a 2007 Pokemon movie, but there's no denying that such songs are enjoyable. Ms. Brightman's voice in this song is actually quite mellow and gentle, whereas she shows a broader range in songs like 'Running' (which weaves 'I Vow to Thee, My Country' into the mix, before escalating in tempo) and 'Canto della Terra,' a remake of Andrea Bocelli's 1999 single (which she recorded with Bocelli himself).

The rest of the album supports Sarah's vocals extremely well.

All in all, 'Symphony' is very well done...unequivocally Ms. Brightman's second best album only to 'Time to Say Goodbye.' You have to give credit to her for doing something right.
