3 out of 5 stars Feel-good music with a twist   October 31, 2008
I. Gazarek (Gainesville, FL)
I was a big fan of "Logic Will Break Your Heart" back when it came out, and I didn't even know these guys were still making music, but when I saw Amazon was offering this as a free sample, I figured I'd pick it up and see what the Stills were up to lately.

I don't think this is a bad song, but it does seem to suffer the overproduced three-part-harmony disease that seems to be going around. It's pleasant, but not really consistent with the sort of innovative drive that got me into the band in the first place.

4 out of 5 stars Good song. Definately worth the download   September 8, 2008

It's unfortunate that the last reviewer decided to give this only a 2-star review -- essentially saying that this song is worst than average at best or a bad song at worst. It's certainly neither. It's a very good song and definately worth the download.

2 out of 5 stars Let's hope this isn't their single choice   September 8, 2008

I guess it is very difficult to be creative these days. Of course, it is easy to sit behind a keyboard and criticize someone else's lack of creativity, but there really isn't any way to listen to this and not think that you have heard such many times before. The obvious similarities are to U2, but there are other 80's new wave influenced overtones as well (The Fixx, Big Country). Probably the most disappointing thing to me is the musical schizophrenia in the middle with the 60's influenced psychedelia keyboard that seems so out of place. It's as if someone forced or demanded that the band stick the keys in for some inexplicable reason.

Overall, there isn't anything memorable to the song. The melody is uninspiring, though the harmonies are somewhat nice. The musicianship is average, at best, and the song just drags. Glad it was free!
