cohen's background profile does says he's a poet and songwriter; this song no matter who sings it always undoes me. it's on my all-fav near perfect song list, not an easily achieved feat. i am a music and lit snob so that should say much and all. jeff buckley's version, oc, is heartwrenching. many others have attemted justice of sorts. with an open mind, listen to tara leigh cobble's interpretations, especially her latest.

Although I believe I might prefer the Jeff Buckley version of this song for melody and tenor who can fault the rich vibrancy of Leonard Cohen. The sound of his voice echoing through the speakers is ethereal. The better the sound system the more this song version turns into a classic.
