5 out of 5 stars Mmm mmm good   August 17, 2008

I don't want to be too wordy, so I'll just leave this review with a few reasons why I love BUST. First, I find it an uplifting and supportive magazine with articles that don't condemn conservative women with liberal political heretics. The magazine is more focused on creating a female support network than to aimlessly attack our patriarchal society. In that way, I actually find it a more effective means of literature in promoting female empowerment and feminism! Yee-haw!

5 out of 5 stars The definition of third-wave feminism   July 21, 2008

Third wave feminism is often summed up be referencing this classic mag. It's a fun and intelligent read, and a genuinely viable alternative to the fluff generally marketed towards women.

5 out of 5 stars Why Bust is Awesome   June 30, 2008

I started reading Bust when i was 16 and have been reading it for the past four years. Most magazines that were marketed towards my age bracket (17, Cosmogirl) felt so stupid and vapid, i mean, who really cares about cover up and what he is thinking? I wanted something...smarter...and funnier. And i found Bust! It's funny, b/c its one of the few magazines that has managed to still be engaging and entertaining and so awesome, even as i age. Not only that, its talks about politics and women based issues in a way that is humorous and not overly angry or preachy. And it has fashion! It's got fluff and substance and i like that.

5 out of 5 stars fun magazine   August 5, 2007

This magazine is always fun, and always a little annoying with its feminism and excessive sex toy ads - but it also has a lot of great advertisements that always turn me on to new websites to buy unique clothing, art, and other cool items(of the non-dildo variety). There's always a little DIY project or a few in it, which is my favorite, part, but on occasion, that project will be as lame as the story one of their writers did, biting off one of my favorite authors, with a bit about how great Olivia Newton John is- just to point fingers where finger pointing is due). Anyway, point is, I knew the ups and downs of the magazine, when I subscribed to it, so since there really aren't too many magazines that have the good aspects of this one, I'm willing to pay for the whole package, faults and all. But I still think they should fire that broad who wrote that piece. What a copy cat!
