Product Description A pioneering singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Paul Westerberg paved the way for the alternative rock revolution of the 1990s. He made his mark by fronting the influential rock band The Replacements, and has gone on to a busy solo career. He's a platinum-selling recording artist, with over 20 albums for indie and major labels.
Westerberg and First Act got together to design a signature rock guitar, the PW580. It's a killer electric with a rock and roll soul. Westerberg describes it as "lean, clean, and mean?just like rock ?n' roll ought to be." The story goes that Westerberg was on tour somewhere in the middle of America, and he stopped into a mass retailer to buy shaving cream, and bought one of First-Act's crimson ME501 electric guitars on impulse, right off the shelf. He debuted the guitar onstage that night, and quickly brought it into heavy onstage rotation for the rest of the tour.
Designed for rock revolutionary Paul Westerberg of The Replacements, this solid body electric guitar is ready to rock. Designed in our Studio for Artists, the contoured custom body shape has a deep single cutaway for high fret access. A ?vintage-voiced? single coil pickup offers classic tone. The maple neck cradles a smooth rosewood fretboard, and punk rock plaid punctuates the pickguard. To maximize sustain, we added the tilted 3+3 headstock and our proprietary string-through retainer system. Die cast tuning machines provide accurate tuning. Speed dial volume and tone knobs offer quick access to sound tweaks. Pickguard - Custom plaid print Knobs - White speed dials

Been a long time 'Mats fan, so when I saw this Paul guitar, had to have it. Very decent guitar. My only minor complaint is that neck just doesn't feel "right". Went ahead and removed the low E (6th) string and tuned to Keith Richards's stylee. Sounds good thru my 25w Ibanez amp, get some nice dirty tones.
Nice Guitar for the money March 31, 2007 Dwayne Wallace 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Nice guitar for the money. It has a nice bright clean sound. Also, very lite in weight so it's a joy on stage or playing at home. Only problem is the fretboard is dry. I recommend treating the fret board w/a polish or lemon oil to smooth up before you play it for the first time.
Fantastic guitar at a fantastic price from a fantastic musician. March 29, 2007 John Philip Hutto (Barnwell, SC United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My wife bought me this guitar for our third wedding anniversary. I had been lusting after it ever since it was announced that Paul had signed with First Act to release his own signature model. That said, you really would be hard pressed to find a better guitar for the price. It is solidly made, has incredible sustain, and the tone is amazing. This guitar has made me re-evaluate my love of semi-hollow body electrics. I also own a 4003 Rickenbacker. I can make the PW580 sound almost just like it with one turn of the tone knob. The neck is pretty smooth for unvarnished rosewood and maple. I love the body design, and the plaid pickguard is classic Westerberg, a throwback to the plaid outfits he used to wear in the Replacements. I can't put this guitar down. I have owned over ten electric guitars in the 15 years that I have been playing music. I have to say that this has immediately become one of my favorites. Now if only that much anticipated Replacements box set would hurry up and come out ASAP!
For the $$$ it works March 19, 2007 Michael T. O'shea 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had this a few weeks now. I'm a fan of Mr. Westerberg so I bought it for that reason only. As a player it's ok I play many high end guitars so with that being said, it's a bang for your buck so to speak. Fat neck, decent sound high action but again for the $$$$$ fun guitar.

are you kidding me?? March 11, 2007 Laurie (SoCal) I LOVE this guitar! LOVE IT!
The strings are terrible and need to be replaced, but otherwise this thing is so much fun to play. Every time I look to play, I'm picking up this one...
