Product Description A marvel for its price, the traditional dreadnought design makes for one very playable guitar with a great, full tone. Perfect for strumming or fingerpicking any style of music, its no wonder this guitar has been so highly rated by our customers. Features a genuine spruce top, die-cast tuning machines, 25-1/2" scale nato neck, and bound rosewood fretboard. Its easy to tune and stays that way. Rich, resonant sound and excellent projection and intonation make this a first guitar to be proud of. Its also great for camping or as a second guitar. Each guitar ships with genuine Martin strings for a quality sound right out of the box....

Excellent guitar for the price, modification makes it even better! February 1, 2008 Shaymus Banks (Tulare, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is my first acoustic guitar. I was playing on a Greg Bennett guitar that belonged to someone else before purchasing this. Initially, the Rogue could not come close to the G.B. But after some modification, it is nearly as good as that $200 guitar. Out of the box, I was disappointed. The "Martin" strings are horrible, as someone else stated. The action (distance you have to press string down to touch fretboard) is very high and will make any newbie's fingers hurt quite badly in the beginning. I found the fit and finish to be satisfactory; had some blemish on the top, and not perfect looking by any means but for my purposes it is fine. Not bad looking at all.
1) Sanded down the saddle about 3/16", and used needle filers to get the nut down for each string. After that, the action was PERFECT!! But be careful doing this, go a bit at a time, and recheck. Both of these things can be done w/ strings still on, just loosen them up a lot. There are online tutorials regarding this: "adjusting action, nut, saddle, etc."
2) Changed strings to Martin SP light acoustics. Made a very big improvement. Don't forget to rub in a generous amount of olive oil on the fretboard wood when you change the strings. Combined w/ a much lower action, this guitar is a joy to play and sounds very good for the price. I don't plan on buying another acoustic at this time. I have been playing for 2 months every day and it stays in tune well, maybe needs tuning after an hour or so but won't be off by much, if any.
Overall, very good guitar if you just put a bit of work into it. And the value can't be beat. I gave 4 stars just b/c I had to modify the nut and saddle to enhance playability. It took me about 2 hours of carefully working as to avoid over filing the nut or saddle. But for the price, the work is worth it. And you learn a little more about guitar mechanics.
Let's call it "so so" February 7, 2007 angrami 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this guitar two years ago, I got disappointed with its sound, you could hear like the strings were touching the wood and that made the guitar sound terrible, I say awful, for that reason I hide it in my closet. 2 months ago I wanted to play it again, and decided to change the strings and gave myself a big surprise; the sound quality is way better than it was before, the martin strings that comes with the guitar sucks, change them immediately. And for that price, it's a guitar that you can take it anywhere without any worries. But, if you can afford a more expensive one, I advice you to do it.
Appearance problems December 13, 2006 C. Peters (Michigan) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought the RA-100D for my young son. I based my purchase mostly on the reviews and did like the sound quality. I have to admit I was very disappointed with cosmetic problems, any quality inspection would see the nicks and scratches in the finish. I hope my son doesn't think I bought the guitar second hand.
A great buy March 29, 2006 d. r. (San Francisco, CA United States) 16 out of 16 found this review helpful
I bought this guitar when it was on sale for $40 because I figured it wasn't much to risk, and none of my serious guitar playing friends can believe it. It sounds beautiful and stays tuned forever. Couldn't be happier with it - highly recommend!
