It has a nice tone and seems sturdy so far. It came very well packed with quick shipping. They'll outgrow the octave range in high school if they stay with the full percussion set, but how many of us have room for a full-range set anyway? This is a great range span for the early years in percussion.

We purchased one of these kits for our son when he joined the band in middle school. It has everything you need and all the pieces are high quality. Not much to go wrong.
