Product Description The iED01 features a great selection of 233 realistic, natural drum sounds, offered both in dry form and sampled with our incomparable digitalreverbs. Our exclusive Dynamic Articulation feature enables a drum sound to change its tonal content as it's played harder for truly realistic performances. The IED01 features 50 preset patterns with enough built-in rhythmic variations (with A, B and two Fill sections) for composing complete arrangements, and creating and saving your own customized patterns and songs. Plug the headphones, included in the kit, right into the headphone jack for discrete practicing. Plus, the IED01 also provides complete MIDI implementation, flexible programming and editing features and velocity-sensitive pad buttons.
Amazon.com Product Description Equipped with everything you need to play drums right out of the box, the Ion iED01 electronic drum set is ideal for beginning or intermediate drummers. The pads range from a single snare pad and two tom-tom pads to a cymbal pad and a high-hat pad, each of which sounds crisp and powerful. The kick drum and open high-hat foot switches, meanwhile, help drummers lay down a solid rhythm. The pads and switches are coordinated by the iDM01 drum machine, which delivers 233 natural drum sounds and 50 preset rhythm patterns to keep things interesting. And thanks to the exclusive Dynamic Articulation function, the harder a drummer pounds, the more the tone changes, resulting in a truly realistic performance. Drummers will also dig the pair of headphones, which let players perfect their chops in privacy (a must for small homes or apartments), and the auxiliary output cables, which connect directly to a stereo or PA system for seriously loud drumming. The kit also comes with a single set of drumsticks and all the necessary cables, and is backed by a 90-day warranty. What's in the Box One snare drum pad, two tom-tom pads, one cymbal pad, one high-hat pad, one kick-drum foot switch, one open high-hat foot switch, one set of drum sticks, one iDM01 drum machine, and headphones.

Price in-line with product May 12, 2008 Charles E. Smith (Great Falls MT) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I looked over the reviews from 3 years back until now. Lots of complaints could be perpetrated by the customers themselves........ 1. Plastic thumbscrews fall apart....seems that they have been replaced by metal ones. 2. Drumbsticks broke after 10 minutes.......I am 6'5'', 300 lbs with a 36" waist and a third degree black belt. I beat on these drums everday and have been for the last month.....nothing has broke.....must be using those sticks to pry open dads liquor cabinet. 3. Drum pads drop down after continuous play.....the bracketry is plastic however some ingenuity could prevail here....maybe spray some spray adhesive to make it grip better, again I have no problem. 4. Complaint about he kick drum pedal echoing...has not happened to me but there is a .pdf document for the adjustment of the pedals..maybe has to do with that effect. 5. Complaints of the controller failing.......Have not had the problem. 6. Cheap construction.......I would rather pay $229.00 for this than a four drum pad machine.......work with this, you can make adjustments for your style (severity) of play.
Things I liked: 1. Sounds awesome over any of my amplifiers. I much prefer this to a machine produced drum sound. 2. They don't give you what you don't want...i.e. a cheap drum throne which wouldn't support me anyway...helps to keep cost down. 3. Nice range of programmable sounds to work with. 4. Add on options available that are not that expensive. 5. Not that hard to setup.....does take some time but not that much. 6. Little kids that come and visit love it.....so do some adults!
I say if you don't want to spend way too much and actually get a name brand (this is an Alesis brand) then I think this is the way to go. Customer service answered both times I called and were at least somewhat helpful. Carries a 1 year warranty also.

Absolutely Thrilled! April 13, 2008 Annie (USA) Bought this for my 10 year old grandson. I was willing to pay $500 for a real Ludwig drum set but we have no room for a real set and 'settled' for this. We could not be more satisfied. It is hooked into my son's fancy home theater system and it sounds just like a real drum set. Don't think twice, buy it for you or a loved one!
Junk -- Toy-Grade and Fragile February 25, 2008 Anchoret (California) Non-musicians who just get this as a noise-making toy for their kids may be satisfied until the kids destroy it (which I suspect will happen in short order, as it is very fragile and poorly designed), but it simply is junk to any adult drummer who wants it for any serious purpose.
I did not expect much, just something to trigger MIDI control data to software drum synths when recording, but this mess couldn't even do that reliably, though it claims to be able to. The MIDI control is buggy and flawed, _vide infra_.
All of the complaints mentioned in other reviews so far are 100% valid, so I won't list them again -- the list is too long. I would add that the heads are rock-hard and their piezo senders are fragile and produce very weak output.
As low as my expectations were for this thing, it fell far, far short of the minimum acceptable function and was a TOTAL waste of money. It does NOT perform its listed functions properly as has been explained in other reviews.

This product was purchased for my nephew for Christmas. He has truly enjoed this set and has not complained about anything as of yet.
Pretty Good December 28, 2007 T. Elrod I'm not a drum expert by any means, but it seems to be an OK set. The drumsticks included broke within ten minutes, but after we git everything set up it seems to work OK.
