Waste of money; all the songs I enjoyed are not on this CD. It's "filler" music: stuff that was indifferently composed for the film, not the great recordings of the time.

4 out of 5 stars Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day [Soundtrack ]   November 11, 2008

I thought the soundtrack was the highlight of this movie-good though it was. My particular favorites were - "Brother can you spare a dime '- from the early Depression years [I have the original Bing Crosby version } and the poignant duet -"If You'll Have Me " Paul Englishby's arrangements wre outstanding as is the sound quality of the disc

It appears that all of the music in the film is included on this soundtrack, which is a rare treat. The sound quality is great, and the music is fun to listen to. It's really not very long, so you don't have time to get bored. If you enjoyed the music during the film, you'll like it on CD.

As soon as I finished watching the (rented) movie I went on line and bought the movie and it's soundtrack. I was so excited the day it came, woosh, right into the player. I saw there were 18 tracks, so I settled in with my drink and all and let play. It was over in 30 minutes. What is on there is good. However each song is only a few minutes long, if that. LOTS of them are only 1 minute and a few seconds, a few in the 2 minute mark, and only 3 in the 3 minute area.
There was so much wonderful music in the film!! I don't understand why the soundtrack is a snippet of what's there.

I love this cd and now I have the movie, too! Buy this if you are a fan of the 30s!
