Industrial Dance-House meets New Wave-Rave in "JUSTIFIED & ANCIENT" BY KLF & TAMMY WYNETTE!! Brings me back to the days of hanging out near the pinball machine; Wendy's Chocolate "Frosty" in hand, of course ...

Hey i remember hearing this in an arcade the mall and i used to play it out! I think some kids even got mad but I didn't care. What i really loved about this song was the bass in the bridge part. That booming beat was infectious with me and i still can't get over it. If you ever heard this song, hear it on a quality stereo with subwoofers and TURN THAT MOTHER UP! cause this song should be played at MAX! YEAH!
I also thought it was cool that Tammy Wynette sang on it. Very cool move for her. I never really understood the song and still don't but man when i hear that bass line it just takes me back!
I've never heard a song like this one since. And probably never will. RIP Tammy and ROCK ON KLF!

In an interview, Bill Drummond of the KLF said he was very much influenced by U.S. country and blues music as he grew up in England. His favorite performer was Tammy Wynette.

Now ol' Bill Drummond didn't exactly crank out country OR blues -in fact he created some serious punk/acid house and later dance music. Here is where the story gets sketchy. Either Bill Drummond called Tammy Wynette, or Tammy Wynette's manager called Drummond.

Regardless, what happened was a collaboration that had implications of the most bizarre kind. Tammy Wynette, one of the greatest American country singers ever performed the vocals on one of the most seriously silly of all dance songs: "Justified and Ancient".

Just who are these Mu Mu's? And why do they drive an Ice cream van?

Regardless, Tammy Wynette found her largest popular audience in performing this song and sadly died soon thereafer. However, we can look upon this song with fondness as a performer who wanted to reach out beyond her roots and her bread and butter - to take a chance - and WHAT a CHANCE it WAS!

Thanks for the fun Tammy!
