Amazon.com Unless you're a snob, a good Monkees collection belongs on your shelves, not too far from discs by the Turtles, the Lovin' Spoonful, and other avatars of clean, occasionally rocking '60s Top 40 pop. Greatest Hits is a more than generous stack, bringing together not only the obvious megahits ("I'm a Believer," "Pleasant Valley Sunday," the incredibly propulsive "Valleri") but also a number of tunes that had the bad luck to fall on the wrong side of the act's swift rise and fall. Foremost among these is "Porpoise Song," a lyrically incomprehensible Goffin/King stab at psychedelia that's at once a crass cash-in and one of the loveliest, most fragile sounds to emerge from the American hippie dream. --Rickey Wright
Album Description Budget-priced, 20 track retrospective featuring '(ThemeFrom) The Monkees' and all 11 of their top 40 hits from the'60s: 'D.W. Washburn', 'Tapioca Tundra', 'Valleri','Daydream Believer', 'Words', 'Pleasant Valley Sunday','Last Train To Clarksville', 'I'm A

Stop, In the Name of Hits November 22, 2008 Mr. Richard D. Coreno (Berea, Ohio USA) The Monkees have been packaged and re-packaged so much that it is sometimes quite baffling to figure out where to start when trying to track down a good "greatest hits" package without taking a great hit in the bank account.
Well, the look is over.
This 20 song collection captures what made the group a hit machine, with some nice tidbits in the mix. Granted, the foursome was a corporate creation, but it cannot be denied the immense pop culture impact they had back in the day and continue to have in the entertainment industry. The one-disc collection at an affordable price gives the listener a good overview of a group that grew into the role of recording artists.
kids. delights October 18, 2008 Stephen Amodt (Hemet, Ca.) As a special education teacher, I play a wide variety of music from around the world for my students, every era, from pop to classic to heavy metal. My students get into the beat with something that has a good one. With this album, their positive response was immediate as was my own for this was the music of my generation. Great product with super and rapid shipment. This is why I continue to do my online shopping with Amazon and refer my education friends and parents to your site.
Great CD August 4, 2008 Gwen (Baton Rouge, LA) Great CD. Immediately threw me back to the good old 60's !! Classic.
nostalgia July 2, 2008 yogi-vet I got this CD just for kicks. There is a remake of one of their songs on the radio and remembering how much I loved their tv show I bought the real thing. I love it. It will be fun to throw an occassional Monkeys song into the playlist. Will it comes up between nirvana, white stripes, sting, the doors, bob dylan, green day, bonnie rait? who knows, but it will make people smile-cuz everyone used to love the Monkeys. oh yeah, I like the CD just fine, quality sound (duh), good selection of favorites, yadayadayada...
Monkees Greatest Hits CD April 25, 2008 Beach Girl (Pennsylvania, USA) Hey, hey it's the Monkees - how could it be bad? This isn't a necessary addition to my musical collection but it sure is fun!
