Great crock: attractive, sturdy, well made and well-sized. Plus, it doesn't get smelly and it forces me to compost my scraps. I just love it!

4 out of 5 stars always there for you   March 23, 2007

This sturdy ceramic kitchen compost holder has become an old friend, one of those dependable if inert gizmos that's there waiting by the coffeemaker every morning, prepared to do its job without complaint. If I find myself experiencing the odd sensation of affection for a piece of mass-produced pottery, I find some justification in the countless late-night trips on which it's accompanied me, summer and winter, dutifully bearing its load of fruit and veggie waste out into the backyard darkness to the compost unit.

If only all friendships were so enduring, so reliable, so devoid of drama and emotional taxation.

But you don't want to know all that.

Just buy the compost crock. It may well be the most uncomplicated decision you make this week.

5 out of 5 stars My mom loves it!   March 19, 2007

Got this for my mom for Christmas. She's an avid composter, and was keeping kitchen scraps in a gallon-size ziploc baggie on the counter. Very unsightly! I found this and knew it was perfect for her. When she opened it, she couldn't get over what a great idea it was, and is still telling me how much she loves it. It looks nice, there is no odor, and she said people are constantly asking her where she got it. Great product!

2 out of 5 stars Ceramic Crock lids break easily   January 31, 2007

I've now had two ceramic compost crocks that have suffered the same fate: the lid slipped out of my hand and broke on the counter. I have bought my last ceramic crock. From now on I am going with a stainless steel model.

5 out of 5 stars This Compost Pail is the Living End!   December 12, 2006

I love this compost pail. It holds so much stuff that you don't have to take out your compost scraps so often. That's a great convenience during these cold days. The crock pot looks so slick and is barely noticeable on the counter. I bought biodegradable liner bags too and just love them. If you're thinking about getting this, I say do yourself a favor and get it now. I can't believe I am so excited about my compost crock pot but I am. (I concur with the reviewer about needing to carry it from underneath when it's full: it is quite heavy and you don't want to take the chance of its breaking.)
