Worthless Piece of Junk July 3, 2008 UW1999 (Irvine, CA United States) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
First off, I was really excited for this Cooler because it held 46 bottles and was made by a quality company, IGLOO and not some company I had never heard of like so many other brands of cheap wine coolers. I ordered the cooler last November 2007 and have been waiting for Amazon to get them in stock thinking the wait would be well worth it. However, when this piece of junk arrived at my door it was quite obvious the word quality would never be used to describe this product unless it was proceeded by the word BAD or HORRIBLE. Anyway, this arrived at my door in its original packaging (as was stated in Amazon's shipping description). The only problem is that this item is not packaged in a container suitable for shipping. The actual entire bottom of the cardboard shipping box had completely fallen out and was replaced by a random piece of cardboard cut from some other box and taped to the bottom. It was very obvious that the entire bottom of the box had broken out from the weight of the cooler during shipping and had been replaced by the shipper. Upon opening the top of the box it was immediately obvious that something was wrong with the cooler because the door was not even attached. I removed the cooler and separated door from the box and quickly noticed the array of black plastic parts laying on the bottom of the box. The door hinges are made of plastic and if they had not been damaged in shipping they would have most surely broken within a year.
In addition to the door hinges being absolute junk I have the following other gripes
1) The whole top of the cooler is made of cheap plastic 2) The temperature control system buttons were very hard to press and felt like they would most surely break at some point sooner than later. 3) Although not that big of a deal the box clearly shows (and even calls out) chrome trim and a chrome door handle. The actual cooler has black plastic trim and a black plastic door handle. 4)WARRANTY IS NOT HONORED BY IGLOO SINCE IT WAS BOUGHT FROM AMAZON. 5)HUGE dent on bottom of cooler (probably from when it was dropped or fell out the bottom during transport). 6)The cooler door contained rubber material around the perimeter (like on most refrigerators) used to prevent cool air from escaping the inside of the cooler. I was able to easily just pull this material right off the door. It practically fell off on its own. I would assume that this would not provide even close to an adequate seal meaning that this cooler will run constantly because it cannot keep the cool air in. 7) Locking mechanism is a piece of junk. Even if the door had not been broken it was very obvious that the door would have a difficult time aligning correctly.
Overall, I was very underwhelmed by the quality of this product. I am probably being a little unfair because the carrier dropped and broke the cooler. However, I feel like them dropping it really pointed out the poor quality and design flaws from Igloo. Amazon gladly scheduled a pickup of the item and issued a full refund. As always I love amazon and will continue to shop often. However, I would strongly recommend against buying this product. Most other wine coolers that hold this many bottleS of wine are twice as much. Now I know why. You get what you pay for. Cheap price...Cheap piece of JUNK.
If Amazon would let me I would give this cooler zero stars.
Poor quality product - good customer satisfaction July 1, 2008 R. Grijalva (San Jose, CA USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The wine cooler arrived with a broken foot and door out of alignment that would not seal. It ran quietly and quickly reached 55 degrees. But, because the door seal was not good, it ran constantly.
I returned easily to Amazon for a quick, no hassle, refund. Amazon arranged for the pick-up and return.
