Product Description
Designed for high-heat cooking such as frying, searing or sauteing, this pan heats evenly with no hot spots, and the sloped sides make it easy to slide a spatula under food to flip or lift it out. 5 out of 5 stars No rivets & exterior coating make for easy clean up.   December 2, 2008
James LeMay (Lake Forest, IL United States)
Most non-stick pans have two or three metal (non-non-stick) rivets to hold the handle on. Many also have hard-to-clean exteriors. I use my non-stick pan to cook eggs. With my old non-stick pan, eggs stick to those rivets, and sometimes to the outside of the pan as I slide them out of the pan.

This Scanpan is truly non-stick. Eggs don't stick to the inside or the outside. That is the main reason I like this pan: super-easy clean up, inside and out.

I only use this for eggs, and I don't let it get too hot. If it gets too hot, I suspect the coating breaks down into cancer-causing chemicals, which end up in me. So this pan is eggs-only.

My wife, a wiser person, uses a ceramic pan from France - Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 2-1/4-Quart Saucier Pan, Caribbean. It is ceramic inside and out. It comes closer to non-stick than our other pans, but eggs still stick. Also, it is deeper than the Scanpan, but it is the shallowest pan with ceramic inside and out. My wife says she will trade some clean-up time for cancer any day.

I am still foolishly (perhaps dangerously) attached to my Scanpan. Egg cleanup is magically easy! Of course, to find out if it was the right choice, we shall have to wait for the autopsy.

5 out of 5 stars Best Pan Ever   November 16, 2008

I have had many pots and pans before but I am quite pleased with this ScanPan fry pan. It truly is non-stick and clean up is a breeze. I have since ordered the 8 inch pan. Also, the handle on the classic model is very good.

5 out of 5 stars Was I the last to find out about Scanpan?!?   October 6, 2008

SCANPAN IS THE BEST NONSTICK PRODUCT I HAVE EVER USED.

I recently researched and purchased my first Scanpan. Happy Birthday to me! Why haven't I heard of these before? My first use, I made two batches of crepes, one savory, the other chocolate. They were both perfect, tasty, and flawlessly non-stick. I used the savory crepes in a lasagna recipe instead of noodles. Lovely and light lasagna! Better than a dream...

I made crackers out of lowfat grated cheddar cheese, no stick, no burn, just that great crusty-cheese (no-carb!) taste. Since I tend to cook many types of foods that are prone to stick, I'll know exactly how long this non-stick surface integrity remains. I hope it is as long as some other Scanpan bloggers have experienced!

4 out of 5 stars Meets expectation   September 30, 2008

After the first few uses the pan seems to be "as advertised". Time will tell as other pans have lost their non-stick quality a little prematurely.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic pans   September 15, 2008
Philip Heede (Redlands, CA, USA)
These pans are fantastic, well worth every penny.

They have great heat distribution and the non-stick surface is easy to clean. You can even put them in the oven to finish off that omelet you're making. The handle doesn't get hot and is easy to hold on to.

In short: highly recommended.
