Works great .... January 2, 2009 L. Mountford (Bellingham, WA United States) I just used the medium size Oxo cookie scoop to make 14 dozen cookies over a 3-day period. I had 4 different doughs: traditional chocolate chip, white-chocolate macadamia nut, chocolate chocolate chip, and cranberry walnut oatmeal. I used chilled dough, and this little scoop held up just fine.
The size is perfect: it makes beautiful uniform-size cookies (about 3" diameter for all but the oatmeal -- those ended up about 2.5"). I can also see using it to make meatballs.
I noticed a bit of "stickiness" in the mechanism, but I was using a very stiff dough. An extra "flick" of the handle and the cookie popped right out. Clean up is a breeze, too. Between dough types, I just used a paper towel to wipe the slightest bit of dough residue out of the scoop, and it was ready for the next variety.
My holiday visitors were so impressed by its performance that they ended up ordering one for themselves.
The perfect cookie scoop! December 29, 2008 DeeDee (Indiana) All these years I have made cookies with a spoon but no more. This is a thing of wonder! It works easily and cleanly and makes me want to make more cookies!!
not as good December 20, 2008 Joan Valade (Rhode Island) not as good as a basic portion scoop. Cookie dough gets stuck and is hard to release out of it
Good for left-handed people December 20, 2008 John J. Lindvay (Erie, PA) This cookie scoop is good for left hand or right handed people. It makes a cookie about two inches in diameter. I am going to buy the smaller one also. Remember to soak it right away when done using or you will have a hard time cleaning it.
Make your life easy cookie scooper December 20, 2008 Maddy's Mama (Issaquah, WA) I used to dread the holiday baking. Don't get me wrong I love baking, its just a time taking task. But this year I ordered this life saving cookie scooper and made all the dough a week ahead of time. It was so easy with the cookie scooper because I used exact measurements and yielded more servings instead of one big, one small and one in between. It took me all of 15 minutes to scoop out 6 batches of a variety of cookies. I froze them all on a sheet pan and popped them into a ziploc. As soon as I was ready to deliver, I'd bake the cookies I made in the morning and wrap them by afternoon! Voila- I had fresh baked cookies and this scooper was such a big help. Just think about all the time it would take to measure them all out or whatever. Exact cookies for easy packaging every time! Thank goodness for all the great reviews that forced me to buy this! I bought the medium sized one. Its perfect for everything! The small one is great for dumplings though!
