Excellent toaster May 14, 2008 L (New York, NY) This is such a great toaster. It toasts bread perfectly and the egg function is GREAT! Really easy to use and clean.
Such a great addition to our kitchen. Guests comment on my toaster all the time! Highly recommend.
So Good and Easy! May 9, 2008 A. Barber (Salt Lake City, Utah USA) The egg and muffin toaster makes delicious breakfast sandwiches and is very easy to operate. I like how you can control how "well-done" the egg is. Great product!
Great product, bad luck of the draw May 9, 2008 D. Klein (Chicagoland) This unit is excellant and consistently produces a perfect product. Hopefully I just had the bad luck of receiving a defective item as mine quit working 4 months after I received it. I liked it so much that I ordered two more. Hopefully I have more luck with these. I didnt get the impression quality was an issue on these given the overall good rating. I do have to add I called the customer service to tell them it died, and they simply asked me to fax my sales receipt in so they could send a replacement. Great customer service! Now Ill have 3.....
It does what it says. Is that enough? May 9, 2008 Brett Morris (South Jersey, NJ USA) This product does what it says. And I haven't had the Teflon problems other people have had, but that could be because I always use spray.
I won't go over what everyone else has already commented on, but my main gripe is this... if this things SOLE PURPOSE is to make Egg on English Muffin sandwiches, don't you think that they should have designed it in a way as to get the English Muffin out of the toaster without having to reach into the toaster slots? A little lever that would lift them the extra inch? Or, since this thing already has so many parts, a little insert that you could put under the muffin so it sits right where it needs to. (Maybe that's why it's uneven when it cooks) but still works for bread.
I have egg/muffin sandwiches every morning. I use this as a toaster, and I microwave the egg in an 8oz ramekin. Makes the egg the perfect shape. Too many parts to clean/deal with. If I could justify buying a toaster I would, but my wife would kill me since I spent so much on this gadget.
If I were going to make a recommendation to the company I would say - Wider slots so you can toast a bagel for bagel sandwiches, and with that little cage inserts for when you want to make an English muffin that centers it.
Pretty cool toaster. The dud that I first received was replaced immediately! May 8, 2008 crys1s (Ohio, USA) The first one that I received on 5/9 was defective as it consistently burned 3 slices of bread on the lowest setting. The exterior was also extremely hot, but the egg poacher worked great. I emailed Amazon and they shipped a replacement on the same day. I received it the next day, 5/10! I tested it, and it works fine. The exterior was cool to the touch, and this time the toast wasn't burned, and actually popped up - the lever on the defective toaster remained in the down position, even after I pressed the Cancel button. So far, so good. It is a bit of work having to clean up after poaching an egg or warming cooked meat; but it saves me time as I don't have to stand over the stove, and now, I won't get frying/oil smells on my clothes and hair (I usually fry my eggs)! I hope it'll last for more than a year as I've been wanting to get one for a long time but couldn't justify paying $50 for a toaster. When I saw the 50% price slash, I just had to buy it, and I'm glad I did.
