i have this thing (illinois)
I've owned this for years & i love that it's reversible for a sheet cake or cupcakes. another plus is that it holds more than the standard dozen cupcakes, cus seriously, who only takes 12 cupcakes somewhere? it's great because i can bake 2 dozen, eat one as a 'quality control', maybe leave a couple for the roommates, and then still fill up all 18 spaces. I do like the idea of being able to take along 24 with those newer carriers, but then it's alot more obvious when 1 is missing...
the latches have always worked well for me, but i always do a pick-up test on the countertop to make sure it's secure
