Fussy babies, darkness-fearing toddlers, and even insomniac adults will experience peacefulness and delight as this friendly plush ladybug, positioned on the floor in the center of a room, projects a starry night sky onto ceiling and walls from the workings under her plastic wings. | Pressing the button on the ladybug's wings illuminates the stars and keeps them glowing for 45 minutes -- just enough time for drifting off to sleep -- before automatically shutting off to preserve battery life. The Twilight Ladybug offers a choice of three soothing colors in hues that are known for their ability to encourage relaxation: ruby red promotes warmth; sapphire blue for peace and sleep; and emerald green, known for harmony and renewal. Of the three, there is certain to be one that complements the color scheme of baby's room. From where she is stationed, the ladybug emits a warm glow in the color of choice, doubling as a comforting nightlight. | | The adorable ladybug comes with a story book and constellation guide. | In addition to its calming effect, Twilight Ladybug also features an educational component. Among the clusters of stars sprinkled across the ceiling are eight recognizable constellations. The accompanying guide tells the warm-hearted story about how Twilight Ladybug got separated from her father and used the constellations to find her way home, which is a sweet way to introduce the constellations and encourage kids to learn their locations. An included booklet maps out which area of Twilight Ladybug's shell the constellations are projected from, so stargazers will know where to look for them on the ceiling. The booklet also gives a brief explanation of each constellation and its most notable features. In the center of the sky is Orion the hunter, most easily recognizable by the three stars that make up his belt. At the 11:00 position, both Draco the dragon and The Little Dipper can be spotted. The Little Dipper is more visible because the North Star, Polaris, highlights the end of its handle. The North Star used to be positioned within Draco but movement in the skies shifted it over to The Little Dipper over time. In the upper right side of the sky (and the ladybug's wings), is Canis Major (The Greater Dog), which hosts the brightest star in the sky, Sirius, at a point in the dog's neck. Right next to Canis Major is Cepheus, a little house with a pointed roof. In the lower right quadrant of the sky, Pegasus -- the winged horse -- is visible. He is easiest to find by locating the square that makes up the center of his body first. On the south side of the sky (between 6 and 7:00), viewers can see two stick figure people. These are Gemini, the twins. And, finally, the best known constellation -- The Big Dipper -- can be found at 9:00. This is really two constellations in one as The Big Dipper makes up the tail end of the constellation Ursa Major, the Big Bear. A unique product, the Twilight Ladybug makes a thoughtful and creative baby gift to help infants or overtired moms grab a few hours of sleep. At only 14 inches long and 5 inches high, this interactive nightlight puts a lot of punch in a small package and is surprisingly easy to work. Each ladybug comes with its own certificate of adoption and runs on three AAA batteries, which are included.

Ladybug saved our marriage!!! July 2, 2008 J. Baldina (Raleigh, NC USA) When our almost-three-year-old daughter suddenly began refusing to go to sleep unless one of us stayed in her room, we tried everything. We let her "cry it out" - only one night, because she sobbed and screamed for over an hour before we finally gave in. So one of us stayed in the room with her until she fell asleep, every night. Sometimes we would be in there until 11pm. (She goes to bed at 9:30). Which meant, absolutely no "together time" for us as a couple. We thought it was a stage, just a few nights. Over a month later, we were frantic. We consulted our pediatrician, who gave a few tips, including "get some stars", but mostly said "She'll grow out of it. . . eventually!"
I ordered this ladybug after reading the reviews and waited impatiently the four days until it arrived. When I took it out of the package, she went nuts. She wouldn't let go of it. She carried it around with her everywhere. She sat it next to her on the couch so it could watch tv with her and narrated the storyline to it. When, a couple of hours later, I finally found the tiny screwdriver so I could put batteries in it and show her it actually LIT UP she was ecstatic. I have literally never seen her so excited over a toy.
I explained that Ladybug would now be staying with her instead of Mommy and Papa at night. She said she understood. Still, there was a bit of a struggle when it actually came time for us to leave. But she did let us leave. And since then (we've had it over 2 weeks) she is willing to sleep by herself every night, as long as Ladybug is right beside her. She loves to click the buttons to change the colors while she drifts off. But mostly she likes the red glow.
I realize every child is different, and what works for one might not for another, but this toy saved us. Worth every penny.
Twilight Ladybug June 26, 2008 K. Anderson I am very pleased with the Twilight Ladybug, My 2 1/2 year old daughter just loves falling asleep with it on! I also Love that it has an automatic shut off after 45 mins!
Great product! June 23, 2008 rvb_ak (AK) I ordered this ladybug for my 4-year-old daughter who is afraid of the dark. I wanted something to give a little light in her room, but not so bright that she wouldn't be able to sleep. This night light is perfect. The stars give just enough light, and the timer is great. We keep the light on as she falls asleep, and then it turns off automatically after 45 minutes. We love this nightlight!
Outstanding Gift Idea June 5, 2008 K. Moran (Southern CA) I bought this for my daughter when she was 9 months old. She automatically loved it. She likes the blue color the best and waits for it to be turned on at bedtime. She now points to the moon when she sees it in the sky. Wow! I have since bought 2 more for baby shower gifts along with nighttime books, lotion and cap w/gown. I highly recommend this for any age child!
Love it! June 2, 2008 Jenny (Oregon, USA) After 3 years, we still love the twilight turtle. Baby #2 is almost here so we bought the ladybug as well. My daughter, 3 yrs, decided to keep the ladybug and give the turtle to baby brother. An ideal bedtime treasure. Stars around the room, baby friendly controls, a soft light that shuts off on its own, never timed it, but it must be about 20 minutes. The turtle has been our standard baby shower gift for the last few years, no complaints so far : ).
Ladybug has a softer body, and glows either blue, green or red. Blue and green are reasonably bright, I have read by it in a pinch (barely); the red is just a gentle glow. Turtle has blue, green and amber, similarly the blue and green make great stars and the amber makes just a soft glow. The turtle makes big fat stars; the ladybug makes smaller stars, but also makes a crescent moon. They both time out and turn off on their own.
Controls are almost the same. Three easy buttons on the shell to choose a color. The ladybug has an 'on/off' button on the shell, whereas the turtle only has an 'on' button on the shell. Both have a small adult sized master 'on/off' switch on the underbelly, concealed by a velcro flap.
Not a planetarium, but covers the room with stars. Kiddos can do it themselves if they wake up in the middle of the night. It has been a soothing thing for our daughter to play with as she falls asleep. The only trouble we had was after about 1 1/2 years I thought the blue and green leds quit, but it just needed fresh batteries. Must use very little power to be used every night and still last 1 1/2 years on 2 AAs. Would buy either one again.
