Amazon.com The Sony Shower Mate radio may just be the ideal early-morning companion: it only plays what you want, when you want, for as long as you want. This splash-resistant TV/Weather/AM/FM synthesized radio offers five preset buttons for programming in your favorite stations, a 90-minute timer with five timer presets (great for kitchen use), and an auto-off function. The large, raised buttons that top the unit are labeled clearly for bleary-eyed mornings, and the volume control has raised grips so that it can be manipulated when fingers are wet and slippery. The Shower Mate is oval-shaped with a flat top and bottom, and is constructed of tough, white plastic. Although it's intended to be used near water, the radio shouldn't be submerged--or even subjected to the stream of a shower. Comes with a strap for hanging and a suction cup for positioning a wire antenna. Requires three C batteries for operation.
Product Description This ideal water resistant band shower radio for bathroom, shower, spa or sauna features a unique Easy-Grip design that will not easily slip from your hand and can be set down on the tub edge or other flat surface. Easy-to-use controls are located atop the radio for handy one-finger operation. A Quartz synthesized tuner provides the most accurate drift-free tuning and an AM/ Weather FM/TV band reception allows you choose from the wide variety of radio talk shows and music programming plus sound from TV channels 2-13 and weather band broadcasts among many other features. Easy Weather Button allows one-touch access to weather information. Thanks to unique easy-grip design it will not easily slip from your hand and can be set down on tub edge or other flat surface.

I've had this for about four years... July 16, 2008 J. Selman (Seattle, WA) This is a great radio. My 87 year old mother has one in her kitchen, my sister has one in her bathroom and so do I. The batteries last forever, it's simple to use, it's nice looking, has a nice feel in your hand and sounds good too. Can't ask for much more for the price. Fits really well on the window sill, easy to ready clock, and it has a shut off timer. I love it.
Good sound but not long lasting July 14, 2008 B. Koslosky (Bellevue, WA) Just tossed my third Sony shower radio----lasts between one and two years with daily use. Good sound for sure but I'm done with this concept; somehow shower steam and electronics just don't make sense
Singing in the rain... July 11, 2008 M. Thompson (Memphis, TN United States) First impressions: felt durable right out of the box with some decent instructions. The radio "feels" waterproof, or as the product description says "water resistant." Put some batteries (not included) in it and hung it up. The antenna is a little unsightly, but hey, it's in a shower. The acoustics in my shower are pretty bad, so the weather channel is pretty much useless because I can't make out what is being reported.
After a few weeks: Radio is a great addition to my morning shower before work. Sound is good and I even noticed that you can listen to local TV station audio, so I have the news on a good bit. Batteries seem to be hanging in there nicely.
Why 4 stars (not 5): It's a shower radio that at $50 is a little expensive.
Described in 5 Phrases: waterproof, sounds good, a little expensive, great start to the day, heavy
How to use the weather band? July 8, 2008 Z. Zhang This radio works great in shower. But I have problem with the weather band. I live in Los Angeles. I switched the weather band channels from 1 to 5 and heard nothing but static. Is the weather band receiver of SONY ICF-S79V supposed to hear anything? Any suggestions are welcome!
great radio... we love the TV and weather bands July 4, 2008 T. Mitchell (Chicago suburbs) We bought this for the bathroom. It has good reception, buttons to program in your favorite stations and weather and TV bands, too.
