4 out of 5 stars Good But Not Great   November 17, 2008
Raul G. (USA)
In using the Logitech Wireless Vantage headset with my PS3 over the past 6 months I'm happy with the performance of the unit though I believe that improvements are needed with the design.

First the good; the Vantage is well built out of sturdy plastics that feel "right". I've inadvertently dropped the unit on a few occasions without any problems or damage. The ear piece is comfortable enough to use during extended periods of online gaming and offers a crisp, clear sound. The microphone though somewhat short (mine only reaches to my cheek) picks up my voice while canceling most background noise. This is the major advantage of this headset; as anyone who has played online games can attest to the annoyance of heavy breathing and constant static being transmitted over games. At least using the Vantage you won't "be that guy." Another major advantage of the unit is the 12 hour battery life. While I can't say that I've ever timed the unit to see if the claim is true. I often go several days or even a week without charging the unit with almost daily use. When the unit does need to be charged, I've found that a quick 30- 45 minute connection to the included charger adapter is sufficient for a full charge.

A few problems with the overall design and ergonomics of the Vantage keep me from giving it a better rating. The primary problem is with the headsets actual headband. It's made of a somewhat soft, pliable plastic but is completely unadjustable. Logitech decided to rely solely on the flexibility of the plastic band. Unfortunately that could make the unit troublesome for anyone with a smaller or larger than average head. Additionally I've found that the location of the headband coupled with the weight of ear piece can become uncomfortable. That can be somewhat offset by the fact that the headset can be quickly switched to the opposite ear. Another issue with the design of the headband is that it is very uncomfortable to use with eyeglasses due to the location of the headband. In fact, I'd strongly advise anyone who uses eyeglasses to stay away from this headset.

I've read at least one review here at Amazon that claims the Vantage interferes with the Sony SIXAXIS or Dualshock 3 controllers. I'm happy to report that I've never once experienced interference of any sort with this headset. Also, besides the first initial pairing of the headset to my PS3 I've never had to repeat the process.

As I stated previously, the Vantage is a strong performer with some aesthetic and ergonomic flaws that keep it from being great.

3 out of 5 stars Great PS3 Headset....Unless you use Wi-Fi Internet   November 11, 2008
Mike Worthy (North Little Rock, Arkansas)

The short time I was able to use the the Logitech Cordless Vantage, I was thoroughly satisifed and felt it was well worth the price. However, since Sony update 2.40 on the PS3, use of the headset causes me to drop my wi-fi internet network connection. This basically means if you're playing on-line, you can't use the wireless headset. This problem does not occur with PS3 users that are connected directly using an Ethernet cable.

Unfortunately, neither Sony or Logitech has an answer to the issue. In researching the Playstation Network Forums, other users are having the same complaint with other manufacturers of headsets too. Though
I love the look, feel and sound of the headset, I can not suggest this product until Sony or Logitech resolve the issues regarding using a wireless internet connection with this particular blue tooth headset.

4 out of 5 stars Great Headset   August 8, 2008

This a good headset from Logitech. The speaker is clear and people seem to be able to hear me clearly also. It is a comfortable behind the head fit and does not irritate after long periods of time. The only complaint I would have with the fit is that the behind the head part comes so far around that it is border-line on my face. Maybe my head is smaller than Logitech intended this headset for, but some kind of adjustable mechanism would have been nice. Another good point would be that this headset works with a bluetooth compatable cell phone. Also, I like that it charges off the wall instead of the PS3. It holds a long charge also.

If you have a PS3 and play online, you probably had trouble finding a Bluetooth mic that works without a hitch. The Cordless Vantage is an excellent headset with great battery life that works well with little fuss.

Pros:
12-hour talk time is for real. I played a 14-hour COD4 marathon and didn't run out of power until hour 14.
Noise canceling is excellent. No echoes when listening, and doesn't register my breathing! Comes with a wall charger, and can also be charged via USB with the same cable as your controller. It can be worn on the left or right side, and has it's own mute/volume control.

Cons:
While I think it's comfortable, there is no adjustment for the behind the head loop. If this is for a younger person, or if your head is just small then it may not fit too well.
The earpiece is heavy (must be that 12 hr battery) and wants to slide down if you move around. Without any way to adjust the way it fits this is NOT a headset made for walking down the street, it's for stationary use. The head loop is also cheap feeling compared to the earpiece. It begs careful handling because of the springy feel and how thin the plastic is. Also, you will have to pair it again after you use the wall charger, but not when you use USB. Strange, no?

Conclusion:
The Cordless Vantage is a Bluetooth headset that works well with the PS3. If you like the way it fits then you'll be happy you spent the money.

4 out of 5 stars great for Call of Duty   May 23, 2008

I been looking around for a headset for COD 4. Even though this one is pretty expensive it works great and has clear sound. It lasts around 12 hours. My only con is that my hair gets pulled sometimes, rotating part for the band pinches my hair and when I remove the headset my hair gets pulled. That why I gave it 4 stars. A little annoying but their aren't many headsets for PS3. I'm happy with this one and would recommend it to anyone that wants to enhance their gaming.
