Product Description
Digital cameras and mobile phones have changed the rules about taking photos. Now, the SELPHY DS810 Compact Photo Printer changes everything about how and where to print them. It's only about 9" x 9" x 4," much smaller than typical printers. And it doesn't have to be connected to your computer, so you can keep it in almost any room and print beautiful photos from there. It features Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE), which uses an innovative print head with nozzles that eject consistent, precise ink droplets as small as 2 picoliters. This patented technology produces an outstanding resolution of up to 4800 x 1200 dpi, for exceptional detail and photo realism. You won't have to wait long; it can print a beautiful photo lab quality 4" x 6" photograph in about 63 seconds - directly from your PictBridge enabled camera. Shoot, print, share. Why wait? So, you have family and friends over, and everybody's taking pictures, even with their mobile phones. Why wait until tomorrow - or next week - to see everyone's images? Just put this user-friendly printer in a central place in your den or living room. Its built-in card slots let anyone print from their compatible memory cards, or they can print directly from their PictBridge compatible digital camera or DV camcorder. You and your guests can even print photos from an infrared-enabled mobile phone: just shoot, point your phone and print! And for Bluetoothequipped mobile phones, PCs and PDAs, this versatile printer is Bluetooth compatible5 with the optional Bluetooth adapter - allowing you to print from a nearby room. Plus, using the large, built-in 2.5" LCD color viewer and control panel you can fine tune your images before printing, for better results. With its small size and easy connectivity, the SELPHY DS810 Compact Photo Printer is the new way to view, print and share your photos.

2 out of 5 stars Your Order Has Been Shipped -- I Mean Cancelled.   September 16, 2008

I ordered and paid for a Canon SELPHY DS810 Photo Printer through Ritz Camera and received the usual multiple emails thankin me for my order, informing me that my printer "has been shipped," and then "your order has been cancelled" because the item was no longer available. Hmmm...
So which is it? Has the item been shipped, or has the order been cancelled. I don't know if this is a function of Amazon.com or of Ritz Camera, but I do know I won't believe it when they say an item is "in stock" or "had been shipped." Lies, all lies.

4 out of 5 stars I'm no tech weanie..   July 4, 2008
Michael S. Lehnus (Arizona)
I don't really have a problem with the printer, it actually seems to be working fine. My issue is with the fact that it didn't come with a USB cable, so I had to go to the local office supply store and get one. The second is just as minor, but still annoying, The printer does not support 4 gig SD cards so I had to go buy a smaller SD card. Before I purchased the printer, I contacted the good people at Amazon and asked them a few questions. The person assured me that a 4 gig would be fine, a little much, but should work fine. After receiving the unit, getting the USB cable and setting everything up, I went and took a few test pictures (I also purchased a new camcorder) then I went to test the printer but could not get it to recognize the card. I made a few troubleshooting attempts, but to no avail. I called the Canon tech support center and the gentleman quickly identified the problem. The printer works great and the product overview said it came with no USB cable, but I wish the tech limitations were a little more clear.

5 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL LITTLE MACHINE!   May 29, 2008
M. Peterson (Gig Harbor, WA.)
WOW! I have read some pretty aweful reviews on this. Well I am hear to tell you that i am very happy with this printer, i have had NOT 1 problem with it and i use it almost everyday, the colors are wonderful, the pictures turn out great i love it. People who have had trouble with this either got a bad one that was defective or are very very very PICKY people. For the money you spend on this printer what do you expect miracles? I only wish you could print larger photos with it and that is my only problem... I love it, love it, love it... WONDERFUL machine don't let all the other negative picky people change your mind on this printer, you will love it also. And for the price you can't go wrong i'm telling ya..Get it..

3 out of 5 stars Just okay   April 22, 2008

This printer is okay. I actually don't use it as much as I thought I would. I go the pharmacy machine as it is faster. Also if they get smudged I don't have to pay for them there. I have had a few pictures print out smudged. I wish it has more options. It's okay, but I probably wouldn't purchase it again.

4 out of 5 stars Nice printer, ink can give you some trouble   March 17, 2008

We bought this printer as a way to generate quick 4x6 prints of reasonable quality. I must say the printer delivers quite well. The image quality is much better than I expected, its not the quality you'll get a professional photo place, but it is pretty close, better than you could hope for at the price. The print time is also quite reasonable, 1-2 minutes even for images with lots of different colors.

The only real down side is the ink gets settled pretty quickly. Our first test prints would not come out, and I was ready to ship the thing back. After digging around online, I found out about cleaning the cartridge (see owners manual for how to instructions). After doing a deep head clean of the cartridge, the images came out crystal clear. So if you run into that problem, just run the head cleaning (i only had to do it once, but read about people that had to do it 2 - 3 times) and that should get the printer going again.

All in for what you pay versus what you get, this printer is a great deal.
