We've been big fans of Magellan's Maestro line since it came out in early 2006. The Maestro interface is incredibly easy to use, even for those who are not completely comfortable with electronics. At the same time, Magellan was ahead of the industry with useful innovations like multi-destination routing and pre-loaded reviews for points of interest like hotels and restaurants (from AAA). With its 3200 and 4200 series, Magellan has improved the Maestro line giving them a SirfStar III chipset that provides super-fast. satellite lock and making them thinner. In fact, at .7 inches, these are -- at the time of this writing (November 2007), the thinnest portable GPS navigators available. Distingushing between models is also fairly easy.
3200 and 4200 Family of Navigators
Distingushing between models is also fairly easy. The 3200-series navigators feature a 3.5-inch screen, while the 4200s have a 4.3-inch widescreen display. The 3200 and 4200 offer great, basic navigation with turn-by-turn spoken directions, pre-loade maps of the 48 contiguous United States, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico, and 1.3 million POIs. The 3210 and 4210, add maps for Canada and Alaska, AAA travel information (see details below) and bump you up to 6 million POIs. The 3220 and 4220 add maps of Mexico. The top-of-the-line 3250 and 4250 add a host of other features, including text-to-speech directions that give real street names, bluetooth for hands-free phone calls, integrated traffic (with a free 3-month subscription), and voice command.

Our whole family has used it and find the features to be very good. It is very responsive and the speaking of street names is essential. We plan to buy the database update; however, $79 seems expensive. We bought 2 more for Christmas presents.

WHEN i first recieved my magellan it worked but after i up dated the firmware it stopped working. I called customer support they told me to reset unit i had already pushed the reset button multipal times. But to do a real reset you have to hold the rest button and power button at the same time for ten seconds. I tried it three times it did not work. So they told me to send it in to be repaired,but i didn"t want to send a new unit in for repair i wanted a new one. So I was going to to send it back to amazon. the night before i was to call amazon to get their return process i did the reset thing again and it just started working again. When i said it stopped working i meant it would not pick up any satillite signals. Since it started back working i have only had one other problem the voice command function stopped working once did the reset thing again no other problems. In closing when it does everything it is suppose to do you will love the maestro 3250

i'm really disappointed in this maggi. i'm hoping it's just a defect.
i'm consulting specialist now to try and get an exchange.

I am very pleased with this transcation and product. I upgraded from a different model Magellan and am very glad I did. I thought the price was reasonable and I couldn't really justify buying a $500. GPS.
