Great camera. Well worth the money. July 3, 2008 R. Farish (Frisco, Texas United States) This a great webcam. Best I have ever owned. I use it when I am traveling to video conference with my family. It's compact, has a nice case, comes with some fun enhancement software, and has a great picture. No complaints here.
Works great with 1.6 ghz pentium PC June 29, 2008 ART005 Some of the specs hint a faster chip is needed than 1.6 ghz. Specs say 1.8 ghz. My 1.6 ghz Centrino Duo does fine. Image quality is great even in low light. Auto focus and face tracking have a little lag but you'll learn what you can get away with and then stay within those limits and you'll be fine. Five stars.
Don't buy if your notebook has a narrow width display bezel June 24, 2008 Steve S (Camas, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I returned this product before even installing the driver.
While I suspect the quality of the electronics is great, the mechanical design could be improved. I bought the camera to use with a T43 ThinkPad notebook. Like most modern notebooks, the display bezel is rather thin, with only about 3/8 of an inch (1 cm) between the outer edge and the display. The mounting clip is near the center of the back of the camera. While it does allow the camera to swivel to center the image, it does not have any means to offset the mounting location. As such, about 3/4 of an inch (2 cm) of the camera body extended over the active area of the screen, blocking viewing anything which might be below it.
I suppose I could remove the camera when not in use, or move the active window around to avoid covering any information, but for a high end camera, I don't think that is a reasonable trade-off.
Bottom line - I would not recommend this camera for use on a notebook which has a narrow width bezel on the display.
Easy to Use, great video quality June 20, 2008 Anthony J Wells (Phoenix, AZ) In less than 10 minutes out of the box I was able to use the camera to have a video call and give my long distance family a tour of my new house. The camera performed very well, great video quality (in HD mode) while walking around with it clipped to my laptop, in and out of different lighting, focusing on me, then scenery, then right back to me.
The clip on the camera takes two hands to get onto something, but once clipped on, it stayed on and didnt wobble as I walked around. The cord is a good length for use with a laptop (not too long, but not too short).
The only non-positive comment is about the stand that comes with the camera. It tips very easily and detaches from the base very easily (so you might need to glue it if you plan on using the stand). On my crowded desk, this won't be of much use to me, but the camera clips to the screen on my laptop so no big deal.
Logitech Quickcam Pro for Notebooks Review June 19, 2008 George Ruehling I relied on the reviews of others before making my purchase of the QuickCam. Once I installed it and used it I found why everyone was so high in their praise of the produce - it truly was at the top of its field. Thank you Logitech!
