5 out of 5 stars Fine so far   January 8, 2009

I got this to replace what I thought was a dying Fortron PSU, but it turned out my motherboard was the problem. I really haven't had too much opportunity to put it through its paces, but it worked well the few weeks I used it.

It's big...bigger than the 550w I replaced. It barely fit in my ATX case. 4 PCI-E plugs is a good thing...makes it a little more future-resistant. It's very quiet...not silent, but quiet.

Fit and finish are excellent. Engineering, build and materials appear to be top notch. The only thing that would improve this PSU is modular cables, but a few zipties and some strategy and it's not an issue. Just be prepared to use a good slice of case space for the extra cabling. If you're cramming as it is, this may not be your PSU. Hey, at least short cables won't be an issue.

Super quick shipping.

This is how Amazon should be!

5 out of 5 stars Good PSU   January 2, 2009

Very well made power supply single rail is the way to go if your a gamer or into power for graphics . Plenty enough to run two GTX 260 (wouldnt be enough for 280 though) in SLI mode with two hard drives and a dvd, for three SLI you would need 1000. Dont know what the other reviewer was talking about but works fine on my system. 780i, E8400, 8 gigs dual GTX 260, dual hard drives and a DVD and five fans.

3 out of 5 stars A tad loud   December 31, 2008

I own this PSU and it is decent. It is an attempt by Corsair to grab a share of the bulging need for more power in PC's to power hulking video cards. I has a single +12v rail, similar to PC Power & Cooling's 750 Quad SLI. It is also black like the PC P&C so aesthetically it is great upgrade compared to the gray generics. Unfortunately that is where the comparison ends. This puppy gets "L-O-U-D" on a moderate load. The system this is on:
AMD FX-60
2gb Corsair XMS DDR
3x 250gb HDD (2 WD & 1 Maxtor)
2x x1950 PRO (ATI Brand)
Sony DRU-530a
ASUS A832R-MVP Deluxe.

I have a PC P&C Quad SLI on this unit before I upgraded and it was never as loud as this thing. I can hardly hear me breathing when this thing is on a moderate load. I have to turn the volume up when I play Unreal Tournament 3 because of the fan. Yeah it keeps it cool but messiah man. I don't know if it gets this loud because it is struggling with the load but it should with 750w even at 65% efficiency. If you feel like testing out your noise dampening prowess be my guest. If not, learn from my mistake and stick with what works. I'm Craig's-Listing this puppy. Spend the extra cash and get the PC Power & Cooling Quad SLI.

Current system with PC Power & Cooling 750 Quad SLI:
Quad Core Q6600
4GB Crucial Ballistix
4x 500gb Western Digital HDD
2x VisionTek HD 4850 512MB
Pioneer Blu-Ray
MSI P35 NEO2-FIR

I forget this system is on at times. My older system... not the case.

This power supply is great. Great packaging. Plenty of cables.
8 molex
2 pci-e 6+2 pins
8 sata
1 20+4 cpu connector
1 4+4 cpu connector
1 floppy connector

Only con is that it's not modular, but for the price I couldn't be happier.

4 out of 5 stars Great power supply   December 17, 2008

I purchased a high end PC recently but it came with a lousy factory-standard power supply. This power supply is great, it does the job, stays cool, is very quiet, and was easy to install. The installation instructions could have been more clear, but one quick call to their tech support cleaed up my question. The support was pleasant and professional, and easy to understand. If you are looking for an upgrade, I definitely recommend this power supply.
